C.V. Jissachar (Berrie) Asscher Born in Amsterdam in 1924 and after having studied some years at the Rabbi seminary he went on hachshara in Gouda just before WWII. In 1943 he went into hiding, being a member of the 'Westerweel resistance movement'. He reached Palestine in 1944 where he mainly worked as chief inspector in the department of Education for Adults in the Negev. Berrie became a licensed tourist guide after early retirement and he has been a guide for 20 years. He now works together with his wife Trudi as a volunteer for Akevoth. |
