Event: event 13 Dec 1731 London, verdict at Old Bailey was committed to prison on suspection of forging bills of exchange, aided by his brothers Hartog & Benedictus (info Tony Clayton, U.K.).
Tony Clayton, England further informs:
Marcus Jacob de Vries was sent to prison on suspicion of forging a Bill of Exchange (committed to Debtors prison on 17 Jul 1731),
The verdict: for forging Bill of Exchange for 450 Sterling, was fined 200 Sterling, and sentenced to stand in Pillory in front of the Royal Exchange [perhaps no more than an hour or so], and then jailed for one year.. Also required to find securit y for his good behaviour for two years thereafter.
(his sons Joseph and Abraham were also imprisoned in the 1760's for insolvency)
Event: event 23 MRT 1734 transfer of seat in synagogue of Amsterdam On 16 Adar II 5494 appear before the trustees of the jewish community the couple Tsipor bat late khr"r Isaac Eizik Weisna & naaleh Samuel bar Baruch Bendit Winnig m.h.l, and transfer to their sister/s.-in-law Serche bat late khr"r Isaac Eizik Weis na their part of ownership [half its value] on a seat in the great synagogue, as registered in the protocol [of seats], as a gift.

On the same date appears the maiden Serche bat late Isaac Eizik Weisna z.l. and transfers the whole seat to her prospective husband aluf Mordechai ben pum khr"r Jacob m.h.l. as a gift in terms of dowry.
Event: event 2 MEI 1734 taking a loan in Amsterdam on 27 Nissan 5494 the marrying couple Serche bat hr"r Isaac Eizik Weisna & Mordechai ben aluf khr"r Jacob Defriz take a loan for the amount of fl. 240,- from naaleh Chaim ben aged Jerucham Shapiro, guardian over orphans and in return the bride paw ns a seat, which she owns in the great synagogue. This loan is given to the groom [as dowry] instead of this seat, which the bride had promised to bring with her as dowry, and now all that she still owes to the groom is the difference between th e value of the seat and the amount transferred; the bride is obliged to pay her debt to naaleh Chaim until the coming 8 Elul.

on 24 Ijar 5494 appears before the trustees of the jewish community the couple Serche bat late khr"r Isaac Eizik Weisna z.l. & spouse naaleh Mordechai ben aluf khr"r Jacob m.h.l. and take [renew?] a loan from aluf katsin pum khr"r Asher Anshil ba r Meyer z.l. Gendringen, guardian of orphans for the amount of fl. 240,-; and as collateral they introduce a seat [the same one as before] which they own in the great synagogue.

Married VR 1721, data on this marriage and lineage of groom & bride comes from research by English genealogists, and is collected mainly from info on a trustfund Nathan Simson of Germany, Holland, England and America (a lengthy biography of which exists on the int ernet) set up for the his poor relatives and those of his spouse Duyfie Schabracq, and ensuing lengthy court proceedings with the fund board by Defriez descendants until 1884. All records of payments between 1730 and 1884 have been preserved.
Children of this couple all lived in England and developed into Defries (sons Frances, Isaac, Abraham & Henry) and Defriez (son Joseph, who married in 1753, and whose children were baptised in the Church of England). (courtesy of mr. Tony Clayton) .
