Biographical Note
Werner Weinberg, teacher, writer, and linguist, was born on May 30th, 1915 in Rheda, Germany.

Upon graduation from high school, Werner Weinberg continued his education at the Israelitische Lehrerbildungsanstalt, Wčurzburg where he received a certificate for teaching at public and religious schools.

In 1939 Weinberg&Aelig;s family was forced to immigrate to Holland. They were interned at the Westerbrock Camp in 1943, before being deported to Bergen-Belsen in 1944. In 1948 Werner Weinber along with his wife, Lisl and their daughter Susie moved to th e United States.

In the United States Weinberg continued his education and in 1961 he received his Ph.D. from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. He began his teaching career there at the same year.

Werner Weinberg wrote a number of books about the Holocaust as well as on Hebrew orthography and literature.

Werner Weinberg died on January 27th, 1997.
