Cecil Corper, birth 23 Dec 1920 London, England, died 8 Nov 1992 England, son of John Corper and Hannah Defriend
When war broke out in 1939 Cyril tried to sign up as a rear gunner in the RAF with his best friend, his friend was accepted and Cyril was rejected. His friend was shot down and killed. Cyril was rejected because he had a trade, sheetmetal worker.

He joined the aircraft company De haviland in Whitney Oxford working on spitfires till the end of the war in 1945. Cyril then joined a company called Star Eng. repairing the Royal carriages that were used for state openings. Around 1950 he joine d a company called T. Guisti & Sons Ltd in Islington London. It was not long before Cyril was made up to foreman over the sheetmetal workers, welders, polishers. They made ice-cream equipment and pressure vessels. In 1963 he left T. Guisti & Son s and set up a company called Stainless Metalcraft Ltd with a partner, Harry Childs. Cyrils wife and son were the first employees. During the next twenty years the company expanded to over 250 employees and 15 acres of land at Chatteris Cambridges hire. The company made defence equipment, aircraft ground running equipment, pressure vessels, medical equipment, nuclear handling equipment. Cyril retired in 1983 and the company became a PLC.

Cyril hobbies were cars, boats, guns
Cyril went to Swansea Rd school for boys in Caversham Rd Reading.

He served his apprenticeship at Markham Eng. Caversham Rd Reading

Cyril was a founder member of the Chatteris Cambs Rotary Club. A trophy was named after him, and presented to the Rotarian who has contributed most to the club during that year.

And was a brother of the Borough of St Pancras lodge London No 3316 was Honourable Grand Master and joined the Masons on 9 November 5967 (1969) till he died on 8 November 1992.
