Benedict-Baruch Goldschmidt-Stuckart, birth ONG 1575, died 1642 Kassel, Germany 1. Children of Benedict: Dr Rčudiger Krčoger discovered a document from 1635 in Kassel, in which Benedict Goldschmidt (the Court Jew) calls Jost Goldtschmidt of Stadthagen his 'Vetter' - cousin in modern German, although in those days it could als o mean another close blood relative. Thus, children nrs. 2, 5, 6, and 7, cannot be his children. The only known children are: Meir, Simon and Abraham. 2. Places of birth and death: There is no evidence that Benedict ever lived in Frankfurt. He may not have been born there, since his family may have left Frankfurt as early as the 1560s. He is mentioned in Witzenhausen in 1618-1622. In 1622 he mov ed to Kassel, where he died (not in Witzenhausen!). Recently, we found his tombstone in Bettenhausen (without date). His Hebrew name was: Moshe Baruch ben Moshe Yehuda Segal (tombstone B1-19).
