Private graveside services for Sara Godschalk Elam, 105, will be 11 a.m.
today in Enid Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Healey will officiate.
Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born Oct. 21, 1896, in her parent's apartment above their store
in Enid, and died Friday Aug. 9, 2002.

She attended Enid public schools, graduating Enid High School in 1914.

She attended the University of Chicago, the University of Missouri and
graduated from the University of Iowa in 1918, where she was a member
of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Following graduation, she lived and worked as a fashion designed in New
York City.

She then moved to Oklahoma City where she owned and operated a women's
fashion shop.

In 1923, she returned to Enid and married Roy J. Elam, an Enid attorney.
He died in 1956.

She remained in Enid where she was a member of the Junior Welfare League,
participating in other civic activites.

Surviving are a son, Theodore M. Elam of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren;
and five great-grandchildren.
