The weekly 'Bomelerswaard' dated 6-7-1983 reported that Johan and Geertje Verharen-de Lang of Rossum were awarded the silver resistance medal for their assistance in hiding the trade merchandise of Isidoor van Dijk, who had gone in hiding.

'Het Joodse Weekblad' page 273, published in 1989 reported that in 1944 the family van Dijk who were hiding together with relatives below the hotel Gottschalk located at the Waterstraat in Zaltbommel experienced a raid by the Germans, who were tip ped that a resistance meeting was being held there. The owner of the hotel was shot dead as well as one Jewish lady. Three Jewish women were sent on transport. Seven individuals managed to remain hiding under the floor of the hotel.
