On S F van Oss, we now know that he came to England in 1888 and, in 1896, he married Winifred Agnes Davidson, born in Hampstead. She was about 19 at the time of their marriage. Her father was Thomas Davidson, an artist. Winifred had three brother s and a sister. After their marriage, Fred and Winifred lived in Hampstead (where the Davidson's lived), though the Davidsons soon moved to Walberswick, Suffolk where there was an important artists colony The Davidson home was at Seaholm, The Stre et, Walberswick, and the van Oss family were living there as visitors at the time of the 1901 census.
