Event: event 6 OKT 1829 appeal to court in Amsterdam on this date Mariana Alvares and her intended spouse Marcus Alexaber v.Gelderen appeal to the court of first instance and decry the fact that the civil authorities do not authorize them to be registered for planned marriage.
This becauise of the uncertain matrimonial state of Mariana.
They now state, that she was indeed married on 10 January 1821 to a certain Philip Marcus van Son. v.Son was however involved in criminal action: he performed a fraudulent transaction with a bank in Deventer, was convicted to an infamous punishmen t, which he indeed underwent afterwards. He however did not inform his bride of all this, and moreover, involved himself in a second attempt to defraud a bank, after his marriage to Mariana. For which he was again convicted, but in the meantim e he had escaped from the face of the earth. His conviction and a call to the public was published in Zwolle. Because of all this no chuppa had taken place, and the marriage was never consummated. She wants to be recognised as a woman, free to rem arry,

The court howwever judges on21 October 1829, that the judicial ground for a married woman to be free to marry again are stated in the Civil Code Book, and they are either the death of the spouse, or an official divorce, decreed by the court, an d the Code leaves no other options.
Therefore her request is turned down.
