London Gazette 6 January 1807: Partnership Scholes Birch, Maurice De Jongh and Joseph De Jongh, Merchants in Liverpool, dissolved. Joseph retiring from the concern. Probably left for America then.
Went back to Liverpool after the death of the first child, two children were born there in 1813 and 1814. By 1816 he is listed in Charleston Directories again, as a merchant and planter.
