D.E. Cohen: Geschiedenis van de familie Cohen:
Being an important tobacco merchant Jacob was allowed to take residence in Arnhem in 1718,. Being Jewish he had to pay a large sum of money as security, and wasn't granted poorterschap then (full civil rights). Later he also was the lease-holde r of the Bank van Lening (municipal pawnshop). He was one of the founders of the Ashkenazi community in Arnhem, services were held in his house, for some time in another building he rented, and after his death in the house of his son Salomon.

The circumcision register of Jacob Weijl 1756-1791 (photocopy with translation in the JHM Amsterdam) lists three sons of "my brother-in-law Mosje Bek". Though he performed circumcisions until 1791 there was no Jacob Weijl in the 1784 list of Jewish inhabitants of Nijmegen by the parnassim.

About the surname Lapidoth: In civil documents, notarial acts etc he is always named Benjamin Abrahams Junior, even where family members were named Lapidoth. The only time I saw him named as Lapidoth was after his death, in the document of 1802/0 3 concerning the inheritance of his sister Barendina Lapidoth. In this document all his siblings and half-siblings were named Lapidoth, including those that were always known as Abraham(s).
