H.M.Corwin from Oldenzaal noted, as reported by E.Vomberg:
The Denneboom family originates in Veldhausen in the county Bentheim. But in some old archives is the notation that they came from Borger in the Dutch province Drenthe and moved from there to Veldhausen.
The first spelling of the name was Dannebaum-Danneboom: Joseph Elias Danneboom was born in 1775 in Borger. His brother Elias was born in Veldhausen in 1790 and moved to Rolde, where he had six children. Joseph Elias had 7 children, some of whom ma rried Dutch Jewish partners.
Joseph Elias paid no less than 301 guilders and ten nickels for 'Sein Geleit' (the letter of protection) in order to be allowed to live in the county Bentheim and also paid an annual fee of ten guilders 'tribut'. That was a very large amount at th ose times. There was a notation 'Sein Bertrapen ist untadelhaft, aber seine Vermogensumstande sind sehr gering' 'A Kunstschtuuk als ze hem zoveel lieten meshollen'.
Note: dates shown in the family tree are those as recorded in Genlias.nl.
Joel was a member of the Drentsche Schutters (Drentse Home Guards) as a trumpetter. He was a peddlar, possibly the market permit in the file was his.
